Coffee is an amazing crop that thrives in sustainable agroforestry systems. We love to be able to work with cooperatives and small coffee producers that are committed to conserving the environment through sound organic practices. This is also the best choice for their own health and the health of their families, as well as for your health as consumers.
At all of our origins -from Guatemala to Peru- it is such a privilege to be able to visit our farmer friends and enjoy the diversity of tropical fruits that grow there. The fruit trees provide important shade for the coffee plants as well as a habitat for many birds and play a crucial role as part of the farm ecosystem.
You can find bananas, oranges, tangerines, limes and avocado, among others. Some farmers also have sugar cane, papaya and pineapple-yum! The fruits that are produced are an important source of excellent nutrients for the farmers and their families, and they are also an additional source of income. Tangerines and sugar cane taste extra fresh and special when you get to eat them in the midst of coffee plants!
